Encaustic is a unique and ancient painting technique that has recently gained popularity in contemporary art. In this workshop, participants will be introduced to the fundamentals of encaustic painting. We will cover the history of encaustic and its various applications, as well as safety concerns and proper encaustic studio setup.

Participants will learn how to create encaustic paint, how to fuse the layers of wax, how to create physical as well as visual texture, how to use stencils and masks, and as well as how to incorporate photo transfers.

This workshop is designed for beginners and intermediate artists who are interested in exploring the possibilities of encaustic painting. Participants will leave with a basic understanding of the medium and techniques, as well as a completed encaustic artwork.

Workshop fee includes all materials. Workshop runs July 22-23 from 10:00am-4:00pm each day.
