The union of encaustic with photography is quite amazing. The depth created by the wax and the ability to colourize a black and white photograph, is unlike any other combination of media. There are many different techniques that marry the two including: transferring, embedding, and adding wax as a final layer to a prepared photo. This workshop will take place over three evenings and you will learn the following:

Night 1: Photo transfers on wax; Embedding photos

Night 2: Using wax on top of prepared panels and colourizing aspects of the image

Night 3: Using wax on top of photographs on heavy weight paper, adding small bits of collage to enhance the story of the image

No experience necessary, all materials provided.  The instructor will email you with additional instructions for printing for the first class.
