Accretion is the result of building up thin layers of wax into a textured painting. There are two types of accretion: organic and controlled. You will learn both types including how to start, applying the layers, and fusing. You will also learn how to incorporate using an iron to achieve the illusion of a highly textured piece.

This is a virtual workshop. A Zoom link will be emailed prior to the session. Please have the Zoom app downloaded and ready to go.

Materials required: Six 6×6 wooden panels or similar, encaustic setup, fusing tools (butane torch, embossing or heat gun, travel or encaustic iron), encaustic paint in a variety of colours, carving or dental tools, crocheted lace or heat-resistant stencils, string or twine, drywall compound and putty knife. It’s not necessary to have all or any of these things. There will be, however, time to explore the techniques on your own during the session.
