We are happy to accommodate private adult groups or students. There are a different options available:

  1. 30-45 minute Encaustic Demonstration. In this type of session I would speak to what encaustic is and its history. I would demonstrate some basics including: how to mix colours; how to paint; the different fusing tools; how to apply a stencil; how to make texture using the wax; and how to apply a simple photo transfer. The participants would be able to ask questions but would not be able to try the painting techniques. The cost for this is $8/person. The maximum number of participants is 15 people. The minimum number of participants is 6 people.
  2. 60-90 minute Encaustic Taster. Participants would have the opportunity to try basic techniques of encaustic painting. All materials are provided and participants would go home with a 6×6” small painting. Participants would be introduced to: how to paint; safely using the blow torch and iron for fusing; and how to apply a simple photo transfer. I would talk about the history of the medium and show how to mix colours. The cost for this is $50/person. The maximum number of participants is 12 people. The minimum number of participants is 4 people.
  3.  2-hour Mixed Media Taster. Participants would have the opportunity to create a personalized mixed media painting. All materials are provided and participants would leave with a finished 8×8″ small painting. Participants bring their own photograph of special people/place/animal with them printed onto regular printer paper. Participants learn techniques to collage a background for their image. The central image is ten glued down. Participants learn how to use water-based paints including acrylic and/or chalk paint to create a pleasing composition. The cost for this is $65/person. The maximum number of participants is 10 people. The minimum number of participants is 4 people.

These are the most popular private classes. Other options may be available upon request. In any case, private groups must be booked at least 2 weeks in advance. Depending on the situation, a private registration form may be created for participants to register and pay online. A link to the private page will be sent to the workshop organizer. In the case of school groups: pre-payment is required for the maximum estimated number of participants. Finalized numbers are due at least 5 business days prior to the program delivery. Invoices will be sent to the school administrator and must be paid in full, in one transaction, at least 2 business days before the delivery date of the program.
